Good to Know

  • Note - The Penn Museum is undergoing an extensive renovation of the Egyptian Galleries, and will be closed on November 6, 2023. The large Egyptian Sphinx will remain on display in the Main Entrance, but there will be very limited material from Egypt available for guests to see during this time. The Egypt Galleries will re-open in two phases – the Lower Level Gallery will open in the Fall of 2026. The Upper Level Galleries will reopen in 2028.

  • Free entrance for children under 6, no ticket required
  • Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult at all times

On-site usage

Proceed directly to the museum entrance to scan your smartphone ticket for entrance.

After your visit

  • Limited storage for large backpacks, carry-on suitcases, and umbrellas is available in the coat room just beneath the Main Entrance
  • Photography/videography permitted for personal use, except in some special exhibitions
  • Only bottled water is permitted into the galleries
  • A café is available on the 2nd floor and is open until 30 minutes before the museum closes
